Filipinos in Northwest Territories -- How Many Are There?

According to the 2006 census (next census is this year), 745 Filipinos were counted in the Northwest Territories, and about 600 of them live in Yellowknife. Filipinos were the predominant minorities, as they accounted for almost one-third of all minorities.

The total population of NT was 41,060 in 2006, and the estimated population this year is 43,554.

Contrast this population to NT's land area of 440,479 square miles and 79,256 square miles of water.

The great majority are North American Indians, accounting for about 37 percent of the total population. Here's how the population groups are ranked, according to population in 2006:
